The Squadron Crest was designed in February 2006 by 3 members of staff from the Squadron, Henry Fray, Kevin Fowler and Jason Cotter, the crest was officially used for the first time within the squadron in March 2006.

The blue and white waves represent the four former areas and the four rivers of the old Cynon Valley which the town of Aberdare was a part of (now Rhondda Cynon Taff) - Cynon, Taff, Dâr and Hepste

The Borough of Cynon Valley was formed by the amalgamation of the Aberdare Urban District, the Mountain Ash Urban District, part of the Neath Rural District and part of the Vaynor and Penderyn Rural District.

The green background represents the hills and valleys, whilst the red dragon represents the land of WALES.

The Squadron is located at Gadlys Pit Car Park, the former Pit Site for the area. The pit head and wheel represent the proud tradition of mining and its miners within the area and throughout the country.

Squadron Motto: "Gwella Gyda Ni" (Better with us)

The squadron motto was thought up by Flt Lt Henry Fray RAFVR(T)
