There are many sports activities that cadets in the Air Training Corps can participate in. Cadets from 254 have the opportunity to not just represent their Squadron in inter-squadron sports events but if selected, are able to go on to represent No 1 Welsh Wing, Wales and West Region or even represent the Corps itself.

Football

Within 254 we play mixed team football as part of our Inter Flight Wars which is an on-going event throughout each calendar year. The Squadron also participates in inter-squadron events at Junior and Senior level. Trials are also held to allow Cadets to go and represent No 1 Welsh Wing in Regional events.

Athletics

No 1 Welsh Wing holds an annual event which allows cadets on the Squadron to compete against others in the Wing in track and field events. These include:

100 metres        200 metres        400 metres        800 metres        1500 metres

High Jump         Long Jump        Javelin               Shot Putt          Discus

Successful cadets can, if selected go on to represent the Wing in other Regional events.

Rugby

Although we do not play rugby as part of our Inter Flight Wars, we do participate in rugby trials held at Wing level, we have for many years been able to send Cadets from the squadron to not only represent the wing at rugby competitions but also to represent the Wales and West region. At present this event is only open to male cadets from the squadron.

Netball

Netball competitions are held annually, with 254 being able to send either our own team of individual cadets to make up composite teams. Cadets from the Squadron have for many years gone on to represent the wing in regional competitions. The event is only open to female cadets.

Cross-country

The squadron participates in the annual wing event over a tough course. The competition is separate for male and female cadets. Successful cadets are selected to represent the Wing, where they may go further and represent the Wales & West region.

Hockey

The squadron participates in trail competitions for Junior and Senior cadets. The squadron has seen a number of its cadets go on to represent the wing at regional competitions.
