Leading Cadet
During March and
November each year cadets undertake their leading cadet classification
test. Once a cadet has passed this classification they are then eligible
to attend overseas camps.
The training program
includes:
Basic Navigation
Principles of Flight Airmanship II
The badge depicts a
propeller and is worn on the brassard (this badge replaces the first
class badge on the brassard).

Senior Cadet
As with leading
cadets during the months of March and November each year, cadets
undertake their senior cadet classification test.
The training program
includes:
Propulsion
Airframes

The badge depicts a
propeller over a four pointed star and is worn on the brassard
(this
replaces the leading cadet badge on the brassard).
Staff Cadet
The staff cadet
examination is conducted in two parts, cadets on the squadron are
required to undertake a test in two subjects not covered in the senior
cadet classification, on 254 these are:
Operational Flying
Satellite Communications
The second test is
to undertake an oral examination which is undertaken by a member of Wing
Staff. This examination requires cadets to demonstrate understanding of
the Air Cadet Organisation and ability to give classes, thus passing
their knowledge onto other cadets within the Squadron.
Once completed,
staff cadets wear a yellow lanyard over the left shoulder of their
uniform, with all previous badges removed from the brassard. Cadets who
reach this classification are given other responsibilities within the
squadron to assist in its running.
